Peace Officers of
California (P.O.C.)
would like to thank members of Cal Expo Police for their help with the
severance!
California Cal Expo and State Fair Police are getting a raw deal from
CAUSE / CSLEA, forced to pay full dues no matter how little you work.
When
P.O.C.
represents Cal Expo, members will pay proportionally for
dues. You should not work one day and pay a month’s worth of dues. No
accounting issues with the State will prevent
P.O.C.
from treating you
fairly.

CAUSE / CSLEA filed a
complaint with the State regarding overtime and state employees; the
problem is, they didn't consider what impact it might have on other
peace officers, such as those who work voluntarily at Cal Expo. during
special events, like the state fair. It's good that CAUSE was thinking
of some of their employees, but like usual they didn't consider them
all.
P.O.C. has
checked with several attorneys, who all agree that what is needed is an
FLSA amendment at the federal level to allow Peace Officers to
voluntarily work at seasonal State facilities, such as the State Fair.
Since CAUSE / CSLEA hasn't done it, or thought about it,
P.O.C.
will ask Senator Feinstein and Boxer to amend federal law to allow
volunteers to work at facilities like Cal Expo and contact law
enforcement associations in other states, who this would also impact as
well.
CAUSE /
CSLEA has not lifted a finger to help you, they would rather keep you
down than see anyone succeed in wage increases without them. Why else,
when your management offered to give you money did CAUSE / CSLEA turn it
down? Cal Expo can come up with the money for a pay increase. What is
going to happen if the new stadium deal happens; do you trust CAUSE /
CSLEA to look out for you?
You can be part of
the change to help
State Peace Officers gain pay-parity:
