PAC (Political Action Committee)

Donate to P.O.C. so we can continue fighting for your Rights:

Every Peace Officers of California (P.O.C.) affiliate board member will sit on the Political Action Committee (PAC).  P.O.C. will have a completely transparent Political Action Committee - every vote for every dollar will be published for member’s review.  P.O.C. will not refuse to accept questionnaires from any candidate, nor will it withhold information from board members.  You do not have any of these rights or safeguards with CAUSE / CSLEA.

As a demonstration of the way a union should work, P.O.C. will hold a general membership vote within 3-months of representation for approval of a budget to fund a pay-parity ballot initiative program.  In the end, you will get to vote at least twice on the pay-parity ballot initiative – once to start the process and at least once more to expend the funds.  That way you can see what you are paying for, polling, and staff/consultant recommendations!

CAUSE / CSLEA PAC claims to be transparent when in reality all they are doing is minimally complying with the law in disclosing expenditures.  The questions you should be asking are who approved these expenses and was your money used wisely. Did they approve funds willingly or after having their arms twisted?  How did supporting a County Sheriff’s race to the tune of nearly $60,000 of your dues money benefit a bunch of State Peace Officers?  CAUSE / CSLEA tells you they have a transparent PAC committee, but why can’t you get copies of vote records or approvals for approximately $60,000 of state employee money spent on the personal friend of Alan Barcelona, who as defeated by a 2-to-1 vote margin?

In an efficient, honest, and transparent Union, this redirecting of funds would have been quickly and independently investigated for any criminal wrongdoing! At the very least a board of directors investigation for misappropriation of funds was warranted. What happened? Absolutely nothing, except go after those who questioned it. CSLEA is not transparent in PAC expenditures, and they are not effective in where they spend your money.

CAUSE / CSLEA also tells you that the non-sworn are an important part of the union and contributors to LDF and the PAC.  If we continued to collect what CAUSE / CSLEA does for PAC dues from members, P.O.C. would have a PAC twice the size of the Highway Patrol’s Association.  Besides, a PAC is like any weapon – it is all about product placement – and CAUSE / CSLEA could not hit the broadside of a barn!  If the non-sworn are such a valuable commodity, why do the Patrol Officers at CHP not represent their own dispatchers?

Make no mistake; P.O.C. is going to hold the leadership of CAUSE / CSLEA responsible after the severance is complete.  We will have the time and the resources to invest in seeing that you, the member, is paid back for any illegal expenditure of funds and that we follow through to the full extent of the law for misappropriation or theft of union dues.  Elected members have a fiduciary responsibility to safeguard their member’s money.  They have a duty to investigate the possible theft of union dues.

If CSLEA was successful, you would know it – you would see it in your paycheck!  Whom do you think the Governor or the Legislature is more likely to give a pay increase in tough times – P.O.C. or CAUSE / CSLEA?
